Task Forces

We turn science into practical solutions through a number of inter-company task forces. Learn more about each Task Force below.

Each Task Force is led by a member company representative (or jointly by company representatives), responsible for driving the work and progress towards agreed time-bound goals. Both companies and science team members contribute to the Task Force activities. The companies separately report on their individual progress annually towards meeting the goals of SeaBOS, and outline priorities.

TASK FORCE I

Reducing IUU fishing and eliminating modern slavery

Contributing to the elimination of IUU fishing and forced labour in seafood production, and mitigating the impacts on endangered species.

Task Force II

Advancing protection of endangered species

Healthy ocean ecosystems and rich biodiversity are vital components of ocean stewardship. This Task Force focuses on developing practices that minimize impacts of seafood production on endangered species, and to develop solutions that enhance marine ecosystems.

Task Force III

Reducing antibiotics use

To work with governments towards sustainable seafood production, as well as mechanisms to reduce antibiotics in aquaculture.

Task Force IV

Addressing climate change

To identify global solutions to the impacts of climate change on sustainable seafood production, as well as the ability of seafood production for humanity, along with a healthy ocean, to play a role in the mitigation of, and adaptation to, climate change impacts.

Task Force V

Reducing plastic pollution

To identify ways to improve ocean health through removal and prevention of plastics into the marine environment as well as re-use, recycling and alternative materials.
