SeaBOS consists of eight member companies worldwide working together with scientists to deliver on ten commitments for ocean stewardship. A science-industry initiative, SeaBOS is now looking for more seafood companies interested in developing and implementing science-based solutions to advance ocean health and sustainability.
Since its formation in 2016, SeaBOS has had one type of member, the Keystone Founders, which are the current eight companies of SeaBOS. We are now seeking leading seafood companies who want to help drive the ocean stewardship agenda together with us. There are two categories of membership open for application:
- Associate members: Seafood companies with an annual turnover exceeding $100 million USD, who meet membership criteria (see link below) and have characteristics of being smaller than a Keystone Actor, but large enough to have a significant influence within their region, nation, or globally towards sustainable seafood production and ocean health.
- Keystone Actors: Seafood companies with annual turnover exceeding $1 Billion USD who meet relevant membership criteria (see link below) and have characteristics of dominating global production revenues and volumes within a particular sector, controlling globally relevant segments of production in the seafood sector, connect ecosystems globally through subsidiaries, and engage in global governance processes and institutions.
More details on the SeaBOS Statutes and membership criteria (Annex 1, page 18) can be found HERE.
